Urban Nirvana and the Peradventures of Maddy Henderson

I’m heading to Big Muddy Saskatchewan in the summer of 2016 to begin work on a new novel set in Chicago, LA, Big Muddy, Plentywood (Montana) and Jamaica’s Blue Mountains.

It’s the story of Chicago-based starchitect Stuart McLeod, who flies from city to city to combat NIMBY (not-in-my-backyard) forces–people who oppose urban change because they are both fearful and greedy.

It’s also a novel within a novel–for some reason, Stuart’s womanizing younger brother, an unsuccessful novelist who lives in the basement of Stuart’s fashionable brownstone, is writing about a fictional character,

15-year old

Maddy Henderson, who lives on the Canada-US border and has many adventures.
