Whether you want to open your own business or acquire your own real estate portfolio, overcoming fear of risk and loss is one of the toughest, if not the toughest, challenge you will face.
It turns out that for most human beings, fear of loss is a much more powerful force than desire for gain. It’s why so many of us stand on the sidelines of life letting others rush in and grab the prize.
As a coach of several hundred real estate investors, one of my top priorities is to give the folks I teach the tools to analyze deals and the confidence to go out there and seize the day knowing that they have the skills to do whatever it takes to become more successful.
I got this email the other day from a past client who was having trouble making his first investment:
I realize now
that it was my fear holding me back and I’m glad that you helped me push
through all that fear, because it has been a very great learning experience. I
can’t imagine my life without having done it… I would probably still be hoping
and dreaming to do what I’m doing. It was a very important lesson to me, that
you’ve just got to push through, no matter what could be on the other side, Paul C.
It was a nice note; in fact, it made my day.
