Despite many urban planners being opposed, the idea that residential and industrial uses can be compatible is not new.
Drive down rural roads anywhere in Canada or the US and you will see tens of thousands of mom and pop workshops and homes sharing the same site. Here’s one in rural west end Ottawa:
